Dennis Braekmans joined the Faculty of Archaeology in Leiden in 2021 with a research focus on materials analysis and archaeometry. After a PhD in Archaeology at KU Leuven, he was active as lecturer at the universities of Delft, Leiden and Cranfield. His research continues to focus on an interdisciplinary integration of approaches from archaeology, materials science, forensic science and geology to advance knowledge on the provenance and production of ancient materials, resolving archaeological and historical questions related to ceramics, glass, obsidian, stone and metal objects.
